Job Description

The primary function of a traffic manager is to work as a go-between, connecting CID to other departments within the company who require CID services They take sole responsibility for jobs being produced by the CID on time and on budget so are essentially profit responsible. The traffic manager sets a schedule of deadlines for the completion of a job and assigns teams and team members to each necessary step in the process. The traffic manager then manages that job through, checking on the progress of the project, ensuring there are no delays or if they are then those are communicated to the departments as needed.

-Assign tasks and check the statuses of outstanding tasks.

-Each morning, go over items/tasks assigned (JTFs and Producteev Jobs) and determine if there are any roadblocks

-Communicate any issues with the team and department

-Conduct weekly job status meetings (WIP) to gather and share information with CID and the rest of the team

-Create costs estimates, timelines and tasks

-Track the status of these estimates, timelines and tasks

-Ensure that the work is being completed on schedule and budget

-Gather appropriate task, expense and timesheet reports to ensure jobs are being completed and invoiced correctly.

-Manage holiday cover/freelance cover and extra specialist skills as required.

-Could develop into production tasks as well, e.g. of a shoot is involved or if third

Responsible for managing the flow of work to ensure that all jobs are completed on time. Also ensure that jobs are completed within budget. Traffic managers work closely with product managers, creative and finance teams to ensure that work flows efficiently through the company from the initial brief to the point where it is released.Responsible for full sign off procedures of any and all work.

Schedules

Traffic manager draws up schedules to ensure that any creative production progresses efficiently through its different stages and completes on time.

They issue schedules to each member of the team working on a job and provide key dates for reviews and approval. They manage all the time and resources of CID, tracking attendance, time, quality, requirements and effectiveness.

Control

To help control workflow, traffic manager ideally uses project management software. They monitor the progress of production through different departments and external suppliers, and adjust schedules to deal with any delays or problems. They may arrange regular production meetings to review progress and re-allocate resources to keep production on schedule.
